ATR-FTIR, SAXS and UV-Vis Studies of Silicone Hydrogel and Bio-Hydrogel Soft Contact Lenses

Aims: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of contact lens materials on structural properties and examine ultraviolet (UVA part) visible (Vis) transmittance with without UV filters commercially available silicone hydrogel (SiHy) bio-hydrogel (bio-Hy) soft lenses (CLs) in vitro.
 Place Duration Study: Hacettepe University, Department Physics, Ankara, Turkey, between May 2018 2021.
 Methodology:Attenuated Total Reflectance Fourier Transform Infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectra CLs were recorded (at removing from its package, after 10 min, 1 h day at room temperature) 4000-650 cm-1region estimate water contents CLs. Hierarchical Cluster Analysis (HCA) was performed differentiate chemical structure based spectral differences. Ultraviolet (UVA) light measured 315 -800 nm region. Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) analyses obtain further information nano-scale. 
 Results: One key observations this is large influence content. The HCA analysis grouped all same brand cluster their similarity. UVA results showed that blockers almost met ClassI ClassII standards. size (11.8-39.9 nm) differences morphologies nano globules determined correlated equilibrium content (EWC).
 Conclusion: work designed explain important characteristics commercial will have implications for future experimental clinical research regarding hydration/ dehydration experiments CL polymers.
